Well, this is it.  The first large skimboard contest and the beginning of what has grown to become the unofficial world championships of skimboarding.  Some of the sponsors supporting this sport from the beginning were Hobie Sports, Quicksilver, Surfer Magazine and of course, Victoria Skimboards.  This contest was also sponsored by the city and was hence open only to people residing within the Laguna Beach Unified School District boundaries.  Entry fees were a whopping two bucks and there was over 1000 dollars in prizes awarded.
