7 Contest Schedule for Skim-Fest
2002 Victoria Skimboards 2955 Laguna Cyn Rd.
Laguna Beach, CA 92651 (949) 494-0059 Goal: To continue Jason Holloway’s
SKIM-FEST Contest series for skimboarders to practice and improve
contest skills; competing, organizing, and judging with a minimum of
time and effort for everybody. To serve as a forum, of, by and for
skimboarders to improve the sport. Changes for 2002 READ
CAREFULLY 1. Skimfests are mini-contests to hone your
skills as a competitor and gain a better understanding of judging.
A no frills event, we group competitors by skill
level and run heats of 12 minutes each and share the scoring results
with you. We usually choose Thalia for high
tides and small waves. Victoria Beach for medium tides and
medium waves, and Aliso Beach for large waves and high tides.
Occasionally we will go to West St.or Crescent Beach as well depending
on what is working at the time. 2. Two more dates have been added
for Skim-Fests. Now we will have an event every month before
summer and one every other month after summer. 3. We will have a set schedule for each skill
level, beginners will go first, and advanced last. This way
the amount of time you need to be there will be minimized.
Membership is growing however, and it still takes 3 hours to run the
event. So plan to hang out and help. Some
experimentation in contest format and judging may occur.
We welcome suggestions. 4. Pro skimboarders will be attending and
judging the events on occasion. 5. Please copy our format and start a Skim-Fest series in your area, contest guidelines available. 6. We will post this schedule to the Victoria
website. www.vicskim.com Mark these dates on your calendar now!!!! Or post this schedule on the icebox. No
further notices will be sent until Feb. 2003. (No July, August, or
September contests because of summer contest season) Feb.16, 2002
