The United Skim Tour Ranking System

The United Skim Tour (UST) system has been developed to help unify the segmented skimboarding contest system.  It is a point system which allocates points to riders based on how well they do in each major contest.  In doing so it provides a better determination of who the sports top competitors are.  It also provides an incentive for riders to attend every contest which is of course very good for the sport.  Here is how it works.

Point Allocation

As in the Zap East Coast Skim Tour, 1000 points are allocated to the 1st place finisher in a participating contest.  Each successive finisher receives 10% less points.  Here is the breakdown.

1st. Place = 1000 points
2nd Place = 900 points
3rd Place =  810 points
4th Place =  729 points
5th Place =  656 points
6th Place =  590 points
7th Place =  531 points
8th Place =  478 points
9th Place =  430 points

And so on...

Participating Contests

All the major skim contests count towards the UST point system.

The Victoria Contest in Laguna Beach counts for double points.  This is because the Victoria contest is the most competitive contest in the world and hence there is little argument that the winner doesn't deserve a little something extra.

Who Keeps Track

Bill Bryan has been the person who has spearheaded this entire idea (and has done a good job).  He and the rest of the good people over at Skim Magazine keep track of the point totals from all the contests.

Skim Online is also keeping an unofficial point tally.  Check it out.

Well, that is pretty much it.  If you have any more questions contact me and I will get them answered.
