Open Call For Footage For Upcoming
SkimOnline.com Video Release
October 24 , 2001

As many of you know SkimOnline.com is working on a skimboarding video.  Personally, I have always wanted to be in a skimboard video, and I imagine many of you feel the same.  That is why I am putting out an open call for video footage to be used in the movie.  It doesn't matter who you are or where you skim, all footage will be judged solely on the quality of the shots.  That means if you can send in video footage which is as good or better than what I already have it will be in the video.  If one shot is worthy, it will make the cut.  If many shots are worthy, you may even get your own segment.  Keep in mind that I have been filming some of the best skimboarders in the world, in some of the best conditions in the world, for years.  So the quality of footage I already have is pretty damned good.  The bar is set high, this is going to be a class production.

What Kind Of Footage Am I Looking For?

Anything to do with skimboarding really.  Quality wave riding footage is great.  But also footage of unique breaks, rails and ramps, antics and anything else related to the skimboarding lifestyle will be considered.

I am not looking for footage of you and your friends going out and putting yourselves in danger so that you can get a clip in the video.  This is a call for existing footage only.  I don't want anyone getting hurt trying to be in a video.  It is not worth it, especially since that is not the vibe I am going for in the production.

How Do I Submit It?

Submissions must be edited to show only your very best shots (5 minutes max).  Keep in mind that this entire video will likely be under 30 minutes long and I already have over 2 hours of edited footage of pro riders.  If you only have one good ride, just send that one.  Any submission which doesn't show the goods right away will likely be tossed aside.  I don't have time to edit video tape from all over the world.

Submissions must be in one of the following formats (in order of preference)

  1. Digital 8mm
  2. DV (Digital Video Tape)
  3. Hi8
  4. 8mm Videocassette
  5. VHS

If you have editing capability on your computer you can also send me a CD with the footage burned onto it (avi format) or even email clips to me one at a time.

When you edit be sure and capture the entire beginning and end of each good shot.  That means the run from the top of the sand until they pick up the board (or at least as much of the ride as you have).  Otherwise your shot may be cut because I couldn't make it fit into an available slot.

All submissions should be accompanied by relevant information such as who the riders are, who filmed it and an email address in case I need to contact you.

ALL FOOTAGE MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 30th

Is anyone Actually Going To Send In Footage?

Hell if I know.  It is definitely an experiment.  But I feel better giving everyone an opportunity.
