Aegis
Premiere Goes Off!April 13, 2002 About 400 people turned out Friday night for the Aegis Video Premiere at the movie theater in downtown Laguna Beach. About 350 people attended the sold out first show at 9:15 and it was great to hear all the crowd reactions in a packed house.. Everyone I spoke to really enjoyed the film and was having a great time. I was glad to hear it too, cause personally I wasn't very happy with the sound system at the theater which wasn't loud enough in the back and had a hum in between sections that made be want to tear my hair out. But hey, some people I talked to didn't even notice and those that did said it was not a big deal so I was glad to hear that. It was a big deal to me though. Personally, I am just glad it's over with (relieved actually). I have a new respect for all people who organize events for skimboarders. It isn't easy to make everything run smoothly. My hat is off to everyone making an effort in this sport. After the premiere much of the older crowd headed over to Hennessey's Tavern where Grady and Erik's new band Harry Palmdale and Kai Bond's band La Macheen rocked the house. Harry Palmdale was playing their first real gig and made a big entrance by creating such a ruckus that several people in the mosh pit got kicked out and the band got banned from Hennessey's forever. Hey, you can't get more punk than that. La Macheen played afterward and rocked as usual impressing everyone who hadn't seen them play before. I personally enjoyed seeing so many people who I don't often see anymore. I had a great time and I hope everyone else felt the same. I have been having some trouble getting duplicates of the video that I am happy with. I am working on it everyday though. As soon as they are available I will announce it and let everyone know where they can get a copy. Assuming no more unforeseen problems (a big assumption at this point) I am hoping that I will have the duplicates by Friday the 19th or the following Monday. No guarantees though. Please be patient, the quality improvements will be worth the wait. I would also like to thank everyone who helped out with the video. Without your help the video just wouldn't be as cool. So to the following people (and anyone I forgot), thanks for everything: Brigitte Dittberner
