The Solag Grom Prix

A skim contest circuit just for the kids?  You heard right.  Over the past two weekends the 10th St Bros have been throwing contests just for the groms.  And the competition has been great.

Event one went down at Aliso.  Although it was foggy, the new west swell was pumping and the waves were practically ideal for a competition.  Event two wasn't much different with perfect contest waves at Ninth St and sunny weather to boot!

There are three age divisions:  11& under, 12 - 14 and 15 & up.  Amazingly, one person in each division has one each event so far.  Jake Stinnett won the 15 & up division at Aliso and Ninth St with near professional level skimming.  Zac Johnson proved that he is the man to beat in 12 - 14 while Teddy Vlasis took home 11 & under.  It should be noted that Sam Stinnett was bumped up to the 12 - 14 division and still held his own earning a second place finish.

There is still one event remaining at West St next weekend.  So if you are in the area definitely head down to watch the kids tear it up in this low pressure event.
