2nd Annual Sandskater/Zap UK Skim Fest October 09,2003 Challaborough Beach Around 150 people
turned up each day to enjoy skimboarding and learn new tricks from the
pro riders that had travelled over from the USA especially for the
event. After a successful skim fest last year, Drew Danielo and Bill
Baxter had returned to this years event, but this time were
joined by Austin Bleiweiss who was in the UK for the first time. The
weather was great, but in contrast to last year when we had no waves,
this year we were blessed with clean knee high conditions
which built steadily over the weekend. From the moment the
pro riders hit the water, the beach was packed with onlookers keen to
see what can be done with UK conditions. The public weren't
disappointed. The pro's unleashed a series of aerials, liners and tech
tricks, much to the delight of the crowd gathered on the beach. This
year the event was raising money for the RNLI Beach Rescue which
provides an invaluable lifeguard service for many beaches in south west
England. Just under £300 (around US$450) was raised through the sale of
prize draw tickets. The prizes were donated by Sandskater, Zap
Skimboards and Slick Industries. Thanks
must go to the following people for helping to make the event such a
success: Zap Skimboards -
Thanks for all the gear you sent over to giveaway at the event. The
