Notes:  Ben was one of the few rookie pro riders in the summer of 2000.  Although he competed as an amateur in the beginning of summer, he had decided to turn pro by the time the Vilano contest rolled around.  He must be commended as he was one of the few in the 16-19 division to make the leap to the pro ranks, even though many could have.

His style is smooth and powerful and he seems to do well whenever the waves are throwing hard.  He has been known to throw sick frontside whacks in critical situations as you may be able to tell from the picture above.  I would not classify him as a 'new school' skimboarder but he does have a formidable aerial assault that is worth keeping an eye on.

Ben is a super approachable guy who has a laid back attitude.  He takes his skimboarding very seriously and seems to be present at most every contest within 1000 miles of Santa Cruz.  He has even started his own website for him and his bros which is worth checking out.  Keep your eye on Ben as he makes his way up the pro ranks.
