Notes: Chris is one of the
coolest guys you could ever meet. And he is also one of
the best skimboarders of all time. He has been a top
competitor in the sport for as long as I can remember, and from
what I hear, quite a bit longer. All in all he has been
one of the best riders for about 20 years!
He is known for pulling some of the quickest/smoothest/most
critical wraps (frontside and backside) anywhere. He has
also been known to use a takeoff technique that I have never
seen duplicated. He will run towards the ocean and leap
headfirst over a breaking wave, landing on his board and riding
out to another wave on his stomach. He then gets to his
feet (very quickly) and proceeds to ride the wave.
You have to see it to believe it. Another somewhat magical
trick he regularly performs are paddle takeoffs on a skimboard.
I have taken off on waves on a skimboard before, but not like
Chris. Chris has been known to paddle out at 6 foot
pipeline on a skimboard and ride waves right up onto the beach.
And when you can impress the boys on the North Shore, you know
you have a talent.
