Steve is a fast skimmer, he has to be. Since he lives on
the west coast of Florida, the waves are usually not huge.
It doesn't matter to him though because he charges them at top
speed anyway. Because he doesn't live in an area that
often gets big waves, he has gotten really good at riding the
small ones. He is known for his ability to attack small
waves with amazing speed and foresight. He has proven this
in many contests and
Brad Evers has said that he "has always been on my heels
since I started skimming competitions and he has always
motivated me to try new, bigger airs and the more technical
things. He has a unique style and is a very strong
competitor".
Steve is Zap Skimboards' number one man.
He travels routinely to Japan and other locations to promote the
company and skimboarding in general. He is a really clean
cut type of guy because he is not only Straight Edge, but also a
Christian (It must be all that praying for surf!). What's
next for Steve? Who knows? But if he gets a little
bit more experience in bigger waves and uses that speed at
Aliso, some cocky Laguna kids might get smoked. |
