Costa Rica

Playa Cabuyal, Guanacaste

This is another excellent spot to skim at. This is a 2km beach long, with perfect waves that are also good for bodyboarding...you've got to try this one, is the best spot i've ever skim...

In Guardia, make a right to go to Nacazcolo Beach, follow the entrance of the dirt road, turn left in the first turn, from there is like 4km.

Playa Lagosta

This is an excellent spot to skimboard at.  It is a very long beach, that makes like a tunnel in the beach or a "cañño" all over the sand, next the shore.  You've got to try Costa Rica's beaches, they are the most beautiful beaches in the world...

1km south of Tamarindo.  From downtown follow the dirt road south.

Pavones

Pavones is known for being one of the longest point breaks in the world (for surfing).  It also has some decent skimming though.  The skimming occurs at high tide on the inside break. It is much like a point break for skimming too, allowing for long down the lines.

Pavones is on the west coast at the very southern edge of Costa Rica.  You will have to figure out how to get there yourself... it is quite an adventure.

Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste Costa Rica

Playa Hermosa is a beautiful white sand beach perfect for skimming. It’s a beach break so its at its best at high tide. Its great cause there not lots of people crowding the beach and its easy to get to.

From Liberia head out towards Guardia , at the Tamarindo gas station turn right at the intersection, from here follow the street signs to playa Hermosa.

Manuel Antonio

A nice cove/inlet which draws a fairly nice sidewash off the rocks and if you move towards the middle of the cove away from the rocks there’s a nice big shorebreak.  Nice slope all around.  Best while tide is rising.

This park is just south of Quepos on the Pacific Coast, 132 km from San José.  When you get there, don't get excited and run right for the public beach because it’s no good.  Big crowds and flat beach make for waves that are impossible to get through.  Look to the left or ask someone there to direct you to the little path that goes to the private beach.  It’s a nice cove/inlet that brings the waves right on the beach.
