Georgia Tybee Island, Savannah oddly, here low tide seems to have better skim, and
the beach is not as flat then either, so you can get out onto the water
better then. Most of the time the waves break close to shore ,
regardless of the tides. at high tide there is plenty of flat beach to
skim and work on your 360's etc. If you surf too, you will never get
bored here, trust me. The crowds aren't too bad, sometime little kids
like to stand where the good skim is, but when they see us riding toward
them ,they most often move. This is a very large tourist community, and
parking during the season is hard to find, but this place is good for
skim all year round, if you have a wetsuit it doesn't get too bad
(cold). Simply go to Savannah, via I-95 and I-16 or
otherwise, Find Abercorn Street , then find HWY 80 east and follow it
until the end , probably about 20 miles, and you'll know when you get
there. If you get lost, just ask, most of the people around here are
very nice... this is the south after all. Submitted By: steve_o1122@yahoo.com Cumberland Island Beach I have skimmed at Cumberland Island a few times. It is not a surf spot because the waves are tiny. This makes the place perfect for skimming in the foam of where the tides come up. It is one of my favorites. Drive to Cumberland Island, Ga. Ask a guide where the beach is and skim! Submitted By: Gray@planet-save.com
