North Carolina This spot is phat there's no crowds at all the only thing 2 get in ur way 4rm makin a huge run every time is a few walkin pedestrians. Its got 4-5 foot shorebreak and its especial good during June the waves r great 4 carving turns and every now and then hitting some huge airs. Submitted By: Mattskimkid311@aol.com 2nd St, Kill Devil Hills 2nd street gets crowded, but it is still fun,
locals usualy go here to skim, surf, etc.. It is the home of Keith
Fanning and many other bad ass skimmers. Ten Fifty Four crew will always
be there. Find your way to the outer banks, go to kill devil hills, and its milepost 6. check it. Submitted By: root@interpath.com Wrightsville Beach Wrightsville Beach, NC. When you cross the drawbridge to Harbor
Island, veer Submitted by: Chris Tilghman: Fishkill96@aol.com Topsail Island Any time in August, the breaks are really sweet!! And During High tide, the huge waves break really close to the shore, so you get some sick rides! Of Route 40 Near Jacksonville, NC, close to S.C. Boarder Submitted By: Iskatepawn@aol.com Atlantic Beach, NC This spot has very good moments. Although during low tide there isn't much to skim on, high tide can give you many good rides. The shore break during high tide is constantly 4-5 feet breaking about 20 feet off of the sloping shore. It is awesome for jumping and cutting shore breaks. When you come on to the island drive straight down Salter Path until you reach the jungle golf on the left. Across the street is like a pink hotel and you can park anywhere around that area but near that hotel is where the skimming is best. Submitted By: hubbs4u@aol.com Bob's Spot, Wilmington Um well i just skim where i live, but its a pretty
cool spot. There's this big stretch of sand with no or very little
shells during low tide and you can go really fast. I just started the
sport, so i don't know if you can do any good tricks here, but i've seen
a dude do 360s and 540s and stuff. Uh, I don't know how to get there exactly ( just moved here) but it's on Writesville beach. not to hard to find I don't think. but it's in North Carolina. Submitted By: BiZerkerDude@aol.com Hatteras Beach Really great waves. Early summer is great for wave
riding and sand surfing. Not a lot of crowds. Not much seagrass. On the outer banks. Once you get to Hatteras there is a place that you ride the ferry to get to Okrakoke and in the parking lot there is a path to the beach. Submitted By:
samtheman1002@aol.com More On Hatteras The shore break is sweet all summer u can get 5-7
foot barrels on a good day on the national park reserve you can get long
straits of beach for mile with no one around it jus a plain awesome
beach. It is the big island Sanderling Sanderling is about 20-30 minutes away from Kill
Devil Hills and is chill for skimboarding. On the shore it's a small
slope to the water on a long beach stretch with 4-5's breaking on the
beach. In some places it's crouded during the mid-afternoon, but near 2
or 3pm it's sweet as shit out there. Check it out. Alright, basically just follow Highway 12 north until you hit Duck, NC. It's about 5-10 minutes north of there. There's a sign. You can't miss it. Submitted By:
Oasisbiscut@hotmail.com Ocean Isle Beach This is a cool little beach that is not overly
crowded. It is VERY LONG and EASY TO RIDE if you catch a good tide and a
good day. Even on a regular day it is still good. Some times of year
like late August are great if you like to go towards the ocean (good
slope), yet Spring is better for riding in the shallows (anytime is good
really). When the tide is going out is the best time yet, all are good.
The only disadvantage is sometimes a current can pick up. OVERALL: This
beach is great if you want a good ride with some good hospitality.
There are few if any shells. P.S.
The center of the island is most crowded so go to the East or West End
of the island. Ocean Isle is about 45 to an hour South-West of Wilmington. If you head south on Interstate 17 (from Wilmington) you will see a huge billboard that says Ocean Isle turn here. You will get on a road that will take you about 4 miles to a stoplight. If you see a small airport on the left you're good. Keep straight through the light and go over the bridge. You made it!! Submitted By: BigHitta06@AOL.com North Research Pier, Duck North Carolina The break is sick there. The crowds get smaller the
closer to the pier u get. And the beach is steep and sets up for sick
rights. You can find head high shorebreak on a regular basis and some of
the lines I’ve seen have just blown my mind. To anyone that hasn’t
skimmed on the north side of the research pier is missing out. Submitted By: surferdude00001@aol.com The Islander, North Carolina This spot is best at high tide but at low tide the
break is still pretty close. September and October are the best
times because of a constant North Winds and hurricane swells. On
some days there are 6 to 7 ft sets of perfect glass walls.
Unfortunately this only happens a few times during the year. The
slope is pretty wicked at high tide. It is one of the best spots
to skim in the area. Submitted By: quik_skim@hotmail.com Emerald Isle, North Carolina Emerald Isle is great for skimboarding for several reasons: The beaches outside of a few public beaches, even in the peak of the summer, are generally sparsely populated, so there is plenty of room. There is also a fairly gentle slope for beginners to learn, yet close shore-break waves for the advanced to ride out on. Lastly, the water is generally warm by early summer. If you also surf, there is a good surfing by Bogue Inlet Pier. Basically, you take 95 north or south into North Carolina, depending
on your location on the East Coast of the US. The following is a
map of the state illustrating the many roads to Emerald Isle: http://www.emeraldisle.net/area_map.html Submitted By: scott@wyrlez.com
