The Netherlands

Hargen aan Zee

You can really do good sand rides here. And when it's flood (high tide) the waves are high enough for good wave rides. There are about ten different people every summer who are skimboarding.  It Realy kicks ass.

Everyone knows Amsterdam in Holland. When you go Northwest to Alkmaar you have to go to Groet.  Over there they know the way. (3kilometer)

Vuurtorenstrand, Haamstede

Nice waves, probably one of the best wave riding spots of The Netherlands. Try to between 2 hour before and 2 hour after high tide.   Fall is the best time to skim but it is very cold! So put on your wetsuit.   Usually about 10 skimmers so you have all the freedom you want.   (Lot's of people watching you in the summer).

From Rotterdam go to Zierikzee, from Zierikzee go to Haamstede and the go to the lighttower and you will find it.

Midsland aan Zee, Isle of Terschelling, Fryslân

This spot located on one of the Islands of The Netherlands is one of the most beautiful places in our country. It includes a nice large sandy beach and in good days good waves.  The tide is best just after low tide and the tide is coming in. Than You have nice "Vlakken" as I call it.. the best underground for the board..

There are a couple of Surfers (Hi Vinny!) .. for the rest people who spent there vacation over there.. (just like me..)

Midsland aan Zee is located on the Isle of Terschelling in the north of Holland. U must come there by boat.

Go from Amsterdam to Harlingen...in Friesland.. that is a town neat the Afsluitdijk, the dike that connects Friesland and the West part of Holland. In Harlingen take the boat to Terschelling.. it ill cost u round Fl,40- Dutch Guilders (+- 20$) Than find a nice place to stay.. after that.. go to the beach..

Domburg, Zeeland

In the summer it's really crowded but in the spring or fall it's really cool, you can do awesome sandrides because you've got een really flat beach, and if there is a wind-force above 4-5 you can do some pretty cool waves rides as well. In the summer it's crowded but when there are aren't so much people it's cool tough.   With kind regards: Toine de Klerk ( skimdude ).   Excuse me for my English, it sux

If you are a Dutch-dude you can find it very easily.  Go to GOES then follow the direction to MIDDELBURG and the traffic signs will show you the place.

Den Haag, Kijkduin

A great thing about this spot is that you never know what the tides are like. It´s possible that you´ve got great curves, or just a big part of very thin water where you can slide to eternity. But the best part is that some guys skimboard there, no matter how cold or crappy wheater.   And the sky, the sunset; PERFECT!!!

The entire city of Den Haag lies at the beach. When you get to the beach, you just gotta ask for Kijkduin. Everybody knows it!

Knip and Avila Beach, Netherlands Antilles

There are also some other beaches where u can skim but these two are the best ones. Curacao isn't the best place to go skimming but when the tide is high and it is hurricane season there can be awesome/big/ beautiful liners or just monster beachbreaks. And I have seen that too. But at the Avila beach u should watch out for possible rocks. Usually the skim spots are just flat and you can do beginner tricks on the waves. But if u do ever visit the island and happen to have your skimboard with you you might want to try these beaches. About the crowds...usually during the week there is almost no one at Knip beach, but Avila beach is of a resort so there can be some people around.

Knip beach is located on the west side of the island not far away (40 minutes from the city) and Avila is just next to the city. And local people can easily tell u where they are.

Texel, Netherlands

Texel is the largest isle in the Waddensea. I have skimmed there for ten years now. There differend kind of spots, from very flat to very steep. Best is to go skim after a storm, then the waves are best. Then they are comparable with the waves at Mimizan, France(next to Biaritz).I recommend wooden boards, the foam ones work best on the high waves.Be aware, it's always very windy. My favorite spots: Paal 17, Paal 19 en Paal 20 but there are options enough!

For my spots go to De Koog, the place is very well known on the island. Another option is to follow the signs to EcoMare(museum) and go to the beach there

Petten

Well I am from Holland, so please don't mind my spelling.I am always going to Skimboard with a really good friend of me at Petten Beach. When the water is low, you can do really great sand rides. Bud to go on the waves is a bid hard in holland I think so I am still looking for the perfect spot. And it is also great at Petten beach, because there are a lot of kids like 12 years old which are trying to skimboard, and then you can learn them some tricks etc. And you all switch skimboard, and then have a great time, and then come home and take a nice cold beer( Dutch thing I think( but I ain’t sure)).’

If you are at Amsterdam, then go to Alkmaar( like 40 km up) and if you are near alkmaar, then you see signs with Den Helder. Then you follow them a little while, until you see a sign with Petten. And if you ask the people in Petten where the beach is, I think that they don't mind helping you. Goodluck see you......  in Petten
