New York Ditch Plains, Montauk This is the famous surfing beach, and it gets awesome inside rideable waves as well. Its got a flat sandy bar that is shallow at low tide. this place is ripable. Its really crowded in the summer, with little kids and fat guys and surfers standing in the way, so be careful where you skim. Take Montauk highway all the way to Montauk, once you reach town keep going on the main highway up a hill and down, then look for ditch plains road, go down that and follow to the left, you can park at the dirt parking area by the jetty, but it might be packed in the summer. Submitted By: bluedorn@peconic.net Georgica Jetty, Long Island Georgica beach gets a really nice wedge like action
at the jetty during the summer. The inside waves are perfect for airs or
snaps, but you'll be skimming leftovers, and its kinda hard to get out
on a wave. We need a skim population, so give it a try. If you surf, im not telling you because us Hamptonites
like to keep our sweet wave beachbreaks to ourselves and as crowdless as
possible. Look on a map, its by main beach. If you skim, come on in. Submitted By: bluedorn@peconic.net Rogers Beach, Westhampton Beach This is a great spot for beginners, you can go far
down the sand or ride up to the break. Small waves usually but they get
bigger the later in the day you go out. All the rich people live out
there so it's fun to piss them off. It's at the end of long island NY, that's about all i can tell you, but a gas station attendant can tell how to get there. Submitted By:
HurleyHawaii@yahoo.com Gilgo Beach, Long Island Moderate surfing spot, but no waves make a great
skim. Ask anybody in Long Island Jones Beach, Long Island New York Fun, snappy waves are to be had from May to Oct.
Best time to skim is about 2 or 3 hours before high tide. Low tide is
nice for flat riding, but when the tide starts to come in you can pull
some fine rides. Peak high tide stinks because there is no room for
takeoff and the waves break like crap. Read the tide chart before you
go. Bonus-NOBODY gets in your way here. I've been skimming' this beach
for years with my skim bro Andy and we are the only guys there. Come on
down. Wantaugh Parkway to Jones Beach. Park at Field Six. Go left past the last lifeguard chair. You will see lots o' topless chicks and sweet waves. Submitted By:
Cleach540@aol.com The Pavillion, East Quogue, Long Island NY A nice beach, not too crowded. A Steep banking
beach with waves breaking in a nice little bowl. Only good at high
tide because of a sand bar but when its good it's good. So far the end
of July and all of August have had nice waves. The best spot so far has
been in between the lifeguards’ flags and I haven't been booted out
yet. How sweet is that? Shows you how uncrowded it really is! Long Island expressway to exit 70 follow signs to
rt 27. Take 27 to exit 65 Hampton bays, head south, turn right at light
onto 27a. Head east, make right onto Ponquogue Ave. follow sings to
ocean beaches, go over bridge make right onto dune road. Pavilion is on
the left side about 2 1/2 miles from the bridge. Submitted By: Neverbored00@aol.com Robert Moses The Crowd is not big at all if you go to the non swimming section. If you are at field 5 it is a fast downhill slope to the ocean and breaks right on the shore. If you go to field 4 it is very flat and good for beginners with a sand bar. On the south shore of long island go over the bridge to the land barrier. Close to Jones Beach if you are coming from NYC. Submitted By: fufanu4u@yahoo.com Smith Point This beach is a very good for skimming. It doesn’t matter what tide it is cause each one u can either get some good waves or some sand skimming the best time to go it between spring and summer and beginning of fall and winter it gets way to rough to even go out. The crowds aren’t big usually unless its a hot sunny day then its very crowded but just go away from the lifeguards and your fine. Just get on to Long Island New York, find Sunrise highway and take it east to exit 58 and take William Floyd parkway all the way to the end and over the bridge and you’re there. Submitted By: sssidekick03@aol.com Kismit Great spot for skimming. There's a sandbar a little
east down the beach and wave rip around the sides there giving you a
good set. Great at low tide for cruising. High tide great. Best at its
peak on incoming high tide. Best time to skim there is a bout late
October to middle November. Crowed in August and July till about 5 pm.
Great waves early morning. Take the Robert Moses bridge over. Park at field five. Take the dirt road east. Go towards the lighthouse. Kismit is the first town after the lighthouse. Submitted by: superdude422@yahoo.com
