Gleneden park & 51st Beach, Lincoln City

I'm originally from Oregon but reside in Laguna Beach now.  These two spots are great in the summer time.

Gleneden beach sets up just like Aliso beach in the summer its really steep and gets really good between a low and high tide just gotta keep an eye on it no real crowds in the summer time its a huge beach this beach is located just south of Lincoln City about two miles take the first right after the golf course and follow it down the hill you will be there free parking and no crowds can't beat that.  Just wanted to put a shout out to two of my old skim partners Dustin and Meme the skimming maniacs hardcore any time of the year even when temperatures fell below 40 degrees hope you guys are hanging later.

Short Sands, Manzanita

This place is located South Of Cannon Beach and north Of Manzanita, it's a short hike down from the woods and is protected from East/West winds, it is a large cove approximately a 1 mile stretch of beach.  This place is popular for skimboarders and surfers, at times you can see beached sea lions.  And it's a blast.  The shorebreak is pretty nice, overall this is a great place to skim.

Located South Of Cannon Beach and North of Manzanita, located off of Highway 101.

Pacific City

In my opinion, this beach is one of the best spots to surf and skimboard in Oregon.  The southern section of the beach tends to be a bit flatter, which is good for long rides down the beach.  The northern part is steeper, and it is easier to ride your foam board out and catch the waves.

Pacific City is right off of highway 101, almost directly between Lincoln City and Tillamook.  The turn off is well marked.

South Beach

South Beach is great for beginners, or for those more advanced. It is pretty flat in spots and steep in other spots. It is great to do tricks and the jetty keeps the wind down. The best part is that the girls go there.

Go on highway 101 until you see the sign. It is clearly marked

Otter Rock

This spot gets really good at high tide. It's fairly steep and the waves break pretty close to shore. The only other people that will be there are surfers but it's a big beach so they don't really get in your way.

It's about 10 miles north of Newport and 10 miles south of Lincoln City.

Seaside

This is a beach that gives you long rides to the shorebreak, the tide comes out so much that its almost impossible to get to the breaking wave in time to try to ride it. This is an excellent beach in the summer, has the old kind of tourist town feel, with old indoor amusement rides and arcades. I would recommend this beach if you’re just out to have fun with friends. I think that Gleneden beach in the summer is the ultimate skim wave riding beach in Oregon. Woodies hurt really bad in cold water, get a foamie.

You can’t miss this place, it’s located almost 15 minutes away from cannon beach with lots of shopping outlets.

Rockaway Beach

The best part of the Rockaway Beach in my opinion is Manhattan Beach, which is on the northside of town.  Rockaway is mainly a long, flat touristy beach which tapers into a steeper section at Manhattan.  Manhattan is best skimmed at high tide when the water comes nearly up to the 5 foot sea grassy cliffs which is a great runway for 3-5 footers crashing on shore.  Generally, in the wintertime it gets rougher and bigger waves however bring a wetsuit, a shorty in the summer/fall and a full in the winter/spring due to the cold water temperatures (50-60 degrees fahrenheit).

Rockaway Beach is located North of Tillamook and South of Manzanita.  From the south, travel on highway 101 through town and go past the high school which is on your right.  Take the next left into Manhattan Beach.  Take an immediate left after you go over the railroad tracks and follow the short road to the park.
