Utah

St George, UT

About an hour and a half drive NE of Las Vegas (in the very SW corner of Utah a few miles from the Arizona and Nevada borders) and skimming is really big here.  The Virgin River gets very shallow esp. in the summer, allowing long rides and good conditions for skateboard-ish tricks... (getting pulled down the river by an ATV is also fun)

There are many great spots on the virgin river between Washington city, St... George, and Bloomington.  the best spots are right below the Bloomington bridge, right above the farmer's bridge (Washington), and the canal (Washington).  The best time to come is in the summer more than a week after rain (it rarely rains though).  you may have to talk to
a few people to find out where these spots are, though they are all close to I-15 (give me a few weeks and I'll find exact streets) Bloomington bridge:  off of I-15 on exit 4, turn left at the chevron on frontage road, turn right onto manowar rd, follow until you find the bridge, and hike a few hundred feet down the river for great skimming.

Kanab Creek

About an hour and a half from St. George, UT, there is a little town that started their own skimboarding place. That place is Kanab, UT.  Skimboarding on this creek, called Kanab Creek, is said to be a better place to skim than the Virgin River because there is more water. It is more open. It is also a popular spot for volleyball, 4-wheeling and any sport you want want to play near the water.

The place that is the best is about 5 minutes out of Kanab heading North on the highway. You come to a small dam and right before the dam you come to the creek. You can pull of road and hike down or there are some dirt roads that lead to the creek.

Waterfall, St George

The waterfall is only about 10 feet tall and is really fun to mess around in. But you do have to be careful of its undercurent so if you are messing around below it make sure you have a friend with you because it has been known to pull you under. The waterefall is a great spot to skimboard. You dont actually skim off the waterfall but you do skim over and below the waterfall. The river is usually really shallow in most the spots. Especially in June or July. Although the river gets pretty crowded, it is mostly teenagers who know what there doing. The waterfall is a great spot to skimboard and I recomend it to people 10 and older.

To find the waterfall you should be near eastridge mountain in St. George. There is a Harmons. If you are driving so the Harmons is on the left of the road. Go through the intersection and drive over the mountain. Keep going until you see a dirt road to your left, about a hundred yards up there are some houses to the right of the road. Turn in to the street with the houses. The road only goes left so just keep going on the road for about 100 feet. To your right is the Waterfall of the virgin river.
