Fort Worden State Park

One of the few sandy beaches in the Puget Sound, this spot is usually at it's best starting 1-2 hours before low tide continuing until an hour before high depending on the severity of the tide. For the best waves use the first 100 yds. right of the pier. In the summer this can get REAL crowded so if you don't like dodging kids then check out the north side of the pier between the kitchen shelter and the lighthouse. No siders but a lot of clean waves and long rides plus an occasional log embedded in the sand for rail slides. If you get bored you can always go explore the bunkers or jump off the pier (Don't get caught though, its a $47.00 fine!).

It is located in Port Townsend, WA on the Olympic Peninsula. A little Victorian tourist trap that makes a nice pit stop if you're on your way to the coast to do some surfing or just doing the camping' thing. Take Hwy 101 and follow the signs to P.T. and on to the Fort.
