Skim Online Rating: 7.5 The Good This video is a testament to small wave trick skimming. In fact, it is probably the best video to date if that were your only criteria. Much of the footage is from Brad's home town, Vilano beach FL. The waves are very unique in Vilano with fast liners dominating the wave selections. Brad and the rest of the hometown crew know how to work this spot with a trick being thrown on almost every wave. There are also segments from California, Cabo and the Waveloch contest in Munich, Germany. The Cali segment has some really great waves being ridden by a whole slew of different riders. There is more good footage of Cabo with some pretty entertaining post skim antics. The best thing about the Munich segment were some incredible wipeout recoveries on the Waveloch. Bill Bryan, Mikie Nickerson and Brad Evers all have good segments with some incredible waves. The wipeout segment in the video is awesome. The Bad Throughout the video there are incredible shots, but they are always mixed in with just okay shots. This combined with the fact that over half of the music was pretty non-motivational slowed it down a bit. There was no 3 minute segment of the video that just blew my mind (lots of mind blowing waves, but not segments). There is no sidewash footage. For those of us who live for watching huge sidewash annihilate skimmer and tourist alike, this could be a letdown. There is a pretty serious editing glitch about 3/4 of the way through the video. Summary This video is all about the new school but also mixes in some good power skimming. If you want to see skimboarders take on the hugest waves possible this video is not for you. However if you want to see the outer limits of what is possible on a waist high wave, this is a sound purchase. You can order a copy of the video directly from Brad Evers. The Scavengers is sick. I get stoked watching it every time. B-rad's
segment is mindblowing with his techinal skimming. The music is
straight, good mix of punk and rap, with METALLICA ending it. The
first segment is AWESOME! Big ups to B-rad Evers for making a mad-tech
vid. Hope to see more vids like it.
