Skim Online Rating: 7.5
Length:
  About 35 minutes
Produced By:  Kind Industries
Released:  Summer 2000
Riders: Bill Bryan, George Bryan, Jeff Gomez, Rick Stark, Adrian Prince, Dave Mirra, Butch McIntosh, Jason Evans and more.

Things I Liked: This video has some sick footage and features a lot of worthy riders you won't see in other skimboarding videos.  It is well edited and uses slow motion to its advantage in a lot of places.

Things I Didn't Like: Although there is plenty of good footage, there is a fair amount of so so footage, especially in the beginning.  This combined with the music and slow motion make the video less energetic than it could be.

Detailed Notes:  First it is important to realize that this is a crossover video.  There is skateboarding, skimboarding, snowboarding, snowmobiling, dirt biking, BMXing and maybe even some other "ing's".  There is more skimboarding than anything else but it is probably less than half skimboarding.

The video starts off with some backcountry snowboarding by Jason Evans and another rider.  There are some cool deep powder shots and smallish cliff drops to be seen.

The next segment is the first with skimboarding.  This segment features a handful of rides from a bunch of different riders.  Adrian Prince, Butch McIntosh, Rick Stark, Charlie Whitmore, Nick Hernandez, Keith Hobbie, Jeff Gomez, and Grady Archbold are all included.  The skimboarding ranges widely from very good to not so good.  It keeps moving though so you don't have to endure more than one or two uninteresting rides in a row (usually).  There is also some Dave Mirra BMX riding and some really sick halfpipe snowboarding thrown into this segment.

It is followed up by a solid block of Bill Bryan riding the waveloch machine like no one else can.  This segment was a little long for my taste but the footage was good and it gives the viewer a better idea of what the machine is like because you can see the cameras and the sides of the machine.

Jus Martel's segment is next.  It is roughly split 50/50 between him skateboarding and skimboarding.  The skimboarding is mostly small wave stuff which gets a little boring without wipeouts or anything mixed in.  The skateboarding is cool to watch.  Jus is a a very fluid rider and it is cool to see someone ripping on a skateboard as well as a skimboard.

The next segment features some trick dirt bike jumping and half pipe skateboarding by Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Buckey Lasek and more.  The motocross stuff was cool but it is not really my thing.  It was cool how they used two cameras to give different angles of each jump.  The skateboarding on the monster halfpipe was all very good stuff.

George Bryan dominates the next segment.  There is a lot good sidewash footage.  Some of the straight wave footage isn't the best but the sidewash stuff makes up for it.  Some of the footage looks familiar and I suspect it is included in some other videos.

The wipeout section is pretty good with some particularly gut wrenching falls.  Fun stuff.

Bill Bryan comes back again for the final segment in what is probably the best skim segment on the video.  There is lots of good sidewash footage of Bill, although some of it again looks familiar.  It is a good end to the video.
